Malta Golden Visa Overview
Malta’s new Permanent Residence Program (MPRP), which replaces
the erstwhile Malta Residency Visa Program (MRVP), officially
opened for applications starting April 2021.
The MPRP is a straightforward residency-by-investment
programme based on property investments and government
contributions. With the promise of a 4 to 6-month processing
time from the submission of a complete and correct
application, the programme offers value to clients wishing to
make Malta their home away from home.
MPRP- Malta Permanent Residency Visa
Investment Requirements
⦁ A contribution of €28,000 to the government + €40,000 as
government administrative fee + the purchase of a property
with a minimum value of €300,000 in the South of Malta and
Gozo Island or €350,000 in any other part of the country.
OR
⦁ A contribution of €58,000 to the Government + €40,000 as
government administrative fee + rent a residential property in
Malta for a minimum annual lease of €10,000 in the South of
Malta and Gozo Island or €12,000 in any other part of the
country.
PLUS
⦁ A mandatory contribution of €2,000 to a “local, registered
philanthropic, cultural, sport, scientific, animal welfare or
artistic NGO registered with the Commissioner for Voluntary
Organizations, or as otherwise approved by the Agency.”
Who can apply:
Main Applicant
⦁ Should be 18+ age and provide an affidavit declaring that
he/she has in possession a minimum of €500,000 in capital
assets, of which €150,000 must be shown as available liquid
assets.
⦁ Purchase a personal health insurance.
⦁ Have a qualifying property (Owned or rented) for 5 years.
⦁ No criminal history.
⦁ Purchase a property.
Dependents
⦁ The legal spouse of the main applicant.
⦁ Children of the applicant and/or spouse under 18 years of
age - children above 18 years of age must prove the
dependency.
⦁ Dependent’s parents & grandparents of the main applicant or
of their spouse.
MPRP- Malta Permanent Residency Visa advantages
⦁ No education or language requirements.
⦁ All applicants receive a Permanent Residency for 5 years and
it’s further extendable.
⦁ The whole family can reside inside Malta. 4 generations can
be included in a single application.
⦁ No residency requirements, one entry during the application
is enough.
⦁ Visa-free access to the Schengen region.
⦁ Global tax avoidance.
⦁ English speaking country.
⦁ British curriculum education system.
Application Process: 6 - 8 months
⦁ Signing letter of engagement with Guardian.
⦁ Legal fees will be paid to the law firm. A lawyer will issue
the document check list & prepare the file for MPRP
application submission.
⦁ €10,000 as a government administrative fee will be paid
during MPRP application submission. Identity Malta will carry
out the due-diligence process & issue a "Letter of Approval in
Principle” certificate. (Due-diligence process will take
between 3-5 months).
⦁ After obtaining the "Letter of Approval in Principle”
certificate, the applicant will do the payment of the
remaining EUR 30,000 as Government administrative fee,
Government contribution of €58,000 or €28,000, Pay
€2,000/applicant as mandatory contribution and buy/lease the
property.
⦁ All applicants must enter Malta to provide Bio-metric.
⦁ Permanent Residency card issue.
